We created our family of Urban Initiatives Funds to address the need for financing in neglected urban areas such as inner cities. Our region-specific funds are designed to appeal to regulated financial institutions, as well as tax-exempt institutional investors. They invest in urban areas where we see an opportunity to earn a good return, while doing some good for the community.
We launched the first Urban Initiatives Fund in New Mexico in the fall of 2003 and the second in South Florida in 2004.
